Steamboat Bike Park
The Steamboat Bike Park is open daily throughout the summer as well as on weekends during the late season (typically through September, although dates are subject to change). It has over 50 miles of downhill and freeride bike terrain that are suitable for beginners and experts alike. Beginner trails feature banked turns as well as wooden slat and ladder bridges. Expert trails have large dirt berms, a 10-foot wooden ladder step down, wooden berm/wall ride, and more.
The bike park provides lessons, too, whether you’re new to mountain biking or you just want to hone your skills a bit more. Private and groups lessons are available as are race training clinics and gravity camps.
If you need to rent a bike for your bike park adventures, the Steamboat Bike Shop is located nearby. In addition to a variety of mountain bikes, the shop also carries helmets, clothing, gloves, and anything else you might need.
Steamboat Cycling Events
Tour de Steamboat – This annual events brings together hundreds of cyclists for a one-day tour of northern Colorado. There are three routes available, each with different mileage, so that cyclists of all abilities can enjoy the ride. It’s a non-competitive events that has been going strong for over a decade.
Steamboat Stinger – This event showcases some of the area’s best singletrack while also providing a challenging backcountry race experience. Lasting two days, it includes a 50-mile mountain bike race one day and a marathon/half-marathon the next.
Singletracks – Here you’ll find a list of mountain biking trails in and near Steamboat, complete with information on each trail’s difficulty, length, and rating.
Steamboat Trails System – Riders will find three major trail systems in and around the city and a total of about 55 miles of managed trails in the area.
Bike Rentals in Steamboat
Orange Peel Bicycle Service is a full service bike shop located in downtown Steamboat Springs. They stock a wide variety of rental bikes as well as demos and gear. If you want to create your own custom bike while you’re in Steamboat, they can help with that, too!
Ski Haus offers a huge selection of bike rentals throughout the summer months. They have everything from full- and front-suspension bikes to tandem and children’s bikes. The store also rents tag-a-longs and trailers for those little ones who aren’t up to riding on their own just yet.
Steamboat Ski and Bike has two locations in Steamboat, one on the mountain and one in town. The store has mountain and road bikes available to rent as well as cruiser bikes. Trailers and tag-a-longs can be rented on a first-come first-served basis.
